Hornady 375 300gr DGX Bonded

The Hornady 375 300gr DGX Bonded is a .375 caliber component bullet for dangerous-game hunting applications. It weighs 300 grains and uses a copper-clad steel jacket bonded to a lead core. Hornady lists the bullet with a G1 ballistic coefficient of .275 and a sectional density of .305.

The bonded construction joins the jacket and core to help prevent separation during high-energy impact. As a result, the bullet is designed for controlled expansion, deep penetration and high weight retention. Hornady also states that the DGX Bonded uses the same profile as the corresponding DGS solid bullet.

375 Caliber DGX Bonded Bullet

The Hornady 375 300gr DGX Bonded has a .375-inch diameter and comes in a 50-bullet box. Hornady identifies the component as item 37214. The bullet uses a flat nose with serrated sections, while the copper-clad steel jacket has a 0.098-inch thickness.

The DGX Bonded is available as a component bullet for handloading. For reloaders working with the .375 H&H Magnum, the Hornady 375 H&H Custom Grade 2 Die Set provides the corresponding cartridge-specific die setup. Hornady designed the DGX Bonded to expand while retaining the jacket and core together. Therefore, its construction differs from a conventional unbonded cup-and-core bullet. Consequently, the DGX Bonded and DGS can share the same external profile while serving different functions.

The 300-grain DGX Bonded is also used in Hornady’s factory-loaded 375 H&H Magnum and 375 Ruger Dangerous Game ammunition. However, item 37214 refers to the component bullet rather than loaded ammunition. This distinction is important when selecting the correct product for handloading.
