Humphry’s Rifle Rod

The Humphry’s Rifle Rod provides a practical one-piece option for rifle bore cleaning; the Humphry’s Rifle Rod combines a nylon-coated rod with a rotating handle for controlled cleaning. Because the rod uses one-piece construction, you do not need to assemble several sections before use.

The nylon coating gives the rod a smooth protective outer surface. In addition, the coating helps keep the rod separated from the barrel during normal cleaning. The one-piece construction also keeps the cleaning setup simple and reduces the number of joints inside the bore.

The rotating handle lets the rod turn as a brush or jag follows the rifling. As a result, the cleaning accessory can follow the bore during each pass. This feature helps when you use a brush, jag or patch to clean a rifled barrel.

The rod accepts female jags, so you can attach compatible cleaning accessories directly to the rod. Therefore, you can use a suitable jag with the correct patch for the calibre being cleaned. Always match the jag, patch and other accessories to the bore size.

Calibre Options

Humphry’s Rifle Rods use colour coding to identify the different calibre options. The black rod covers .177 calibre rifles. Meanwhile, the grey 6mm rod covers calibres from .22 through 6.5mm. The yellow .30 calibre rod covers .30 calibre and larger rifles.

This colour system makes rod selection easier when you keep several cleaning rods together. For example, the grey rod covers common .22, 6mm and 6.5mm rifle applications. Likewise, the yellow rod provides the larger calibre option for .30 calibre and above.

For bore cleaning, first attach a suitable female jag or another compatible accessory. Next, fit the appropriate patch or brush for the bore. Then guide the rod through the bore with the rotating handle. Finally, follow the instructions for the cleaning solvent or oil that you use.
