Product Description

The Lee Precision Breech Lock Challenger Kit is a single-stage reloading kit designed to provide a broad range of essential tools for rifle cartridge reloading. It combines the Breech Lock Challenger press with powder handling, priming and case-preparation equipment.

The Challenger uses a strong O-frame design with a 4-1/4-inch opening and a 30-degree offset for improved hand clearance. In addition, the press accepts standard 7/8″-14 threaded dies and uses the Lee Breech Lock quick-change bushing system. As a result, reloaders can change dies quickly without removing the die from its established setting.

Lee Breech Lock Challenger Single Stage Press

The Breech Lock Challenger press uses a solid aluminium frame with steel ram and operating linkage. Furthermore, the 3-1/2-inch ram stroke provides sufficient travel for a wide range of rifle reloading operations.

The Breech Lock system uses a quick-change bushing between the press and die. Therefore, once a die has been correctly adjusted in its bushing, the die can be removed and replaced without repeating the complete adjustment process.

The press also collects spent primers through the ram. As a result, spent primers move away from the main press mechanism and into the collection system rather than accumulating around the ram.

The Challenger uses three mounting holes and requires suitable mounting hardware. In addition, the Lee Bench Plate shown in some product images is a separate accessory and does not form part of this kit.

Lee Breech Lock Challenger Kit Priming System

Unlike the press-mounted priming arrangement found on some other Challenger packages, this kit uses the Lee Auto Prime hand priming system. In addition, the kit includes a set of Auto Prime shellholders.

The off-press priming system allows cases to be primed separately from the main press operation. Therefore, reloaders can choose where and when they prime their prepared cases.

The included shellholders cover a range of cartridges. However, cartridge-specific shellholders may still be required for cartridges outside the included selection. As a result, reloaders should check shellholder compatibility for each cartridge before starting a loading setup.

Lee Breech Lock Challenger Powder Handling

The kit includes the Lee Perfect Powder Measure, a powder funnel and the Lee Safety Powder Scale. Together, these components provide the basic equipment required for measuring and transferring powder during a reloading workflow.

The Perfect Powder Measure provides a repeatable method for dispensing powder charges. In addition, the Safety Powder Scale provides a separate means of checking powder charges.

Therefore, the combination allows the reloader to measure charges with the powder measure while using the scale as the weighing reference. Reloaders should always follow current, published load data for the specific cartridge, bullet and powder combination.

Lee Breech Lock Challenger Case Preparation

The kit also includes several tools for preparing cartridge cases. These include the Lee Value Quick Trim Case Trimmer, Cutter and Lock Stud, Chamfer Tool, Primer Pocket Cleaner and case sizing lubricant.

The Value Quick Trim system can trim cases when used with the appropriate cartridge-specific Quick Trim die. Therefore, the required case-length gauge or Quick Trim die must be selected separately for the cartridge being loaded.

The Cutter and Lock Stud also provides a basic method for case trimming. In addition, the Chamfer Tool prepares the inside and outside of the case mouth, while the Primer Pocket Cleaner removes residue from the primer pocket.

As a result, the kit covers several important case-preparation tasks without requiring a separate tool for every operation.

Lee Breech Lock Challenger Kit for Rifle Reloading

The Lee Precision Breech Lock Challenger Kit suits reloaders who want a single-stage press together with the main powder handling, priming and case-preparation tools in one package.

The single-stage design processes one cartridge case at a time. Therefore, it provides a straightforward setup for reloaders who prefer deliberate control over each stage of the reloading process.

The kit does not include cartridge-specific reloading dies. In addition, it does not include cartridge-specific case-length gauges or the Bench Plate. As a result, those components must be selected separately according to the cartridges being loaded and the preferred mounting arrangement.

The Challenger accepts standard 7/8″-14 dies, so it can work with dies from Lee and other manufacturers that use the same standard thread. Furthermore, the Breech Lock system provides a convenient way to keep individual die settings established between loading sessions.
