Lyman Case Prep Xpress

The Lyman Case Prep Xpress is an electric case-preparation system designed to handle several common brass-preparation tasks from one compact bench-top unit. Its low-speed, high-torque motor drives the preparation tools, while the removable collection pan makes it easier to clear brass shavings after use.

The system can perform up to five case-preparation operations at the same time. These include inside and outside case-mouth deburring, case-neck cleaning and lubrication, primer-pocket cleaning and primer-pocket reaming. As a result, it combines several individual preparation tools in one powered unit.

Lyman Case Prep Xpress Features

The unit operates at 125 RPM, which provides controlled rotation for case-preparation work. Furthermore, the compact housing measures approximately 254 × 254 × 152 mm, making it suitable for a reloading bench where space is limited. Lyman produces both 115V and 230V versions; the 230V model is item 7810223.

The system includes tools for cleaning both large and small primer pockets. It also provides primer-pocket reamers for removing the crimp from military-style brass. Therefore, the same unit can handle both routine primer-pocket cleaning and preparation of crimped primer pockets.

For case-neck preparation, the kit includes brushes for .25, .30, .38 and .45 calibre cases. In addition, the supplied Motor Mica provides dry lubrication for case necks before sizing. Lyman recommends applying the mica before decapping and sizing.

The case-mouth tools provide inside and outside deburring, including a VLD-style inside deburring tool. Furthermore, the removable collection pan catches brass shavings during preparation and simplifies cleanup.

The powered system is useful when preparing batches of cases because several preparation steps can take place without repeatedly changing between separate hand tools. However, the correct accessory should always match the cartridge case and the specific preparation task.
