Lyman Corncob Reactivator Features

The Lyman Corncob Reactivator restores the polishing performance of previously used corncob media in a cartridge-case tumbler. As media becomes less effective after repeated use, the additive helps bring back its polishing action and extends the useful life of the media. Lyman identifies the product as its Turbo Charger Media Reactivator.

Rather than replacing the media after it loses some of its polishing performance, reloaders can add the reactivator directly to the used corncob media. Therefore, it provides a practical way to maintain dry tumbling media during regular case-cleaning work.

The current 4 oz version carries Lyman part number 7631322. In addition, Lyman lists a 16 oz version under part number 7631324.

The product is intended specifically for corncob media. Consequently, it should not be treated as a general-purpose additive for every type of tumbler media.

Restoring Used Corncob Media

As used corncob media loses some of its polishing performance, the reactivator can restore its effectiveness. Lyman’s published instructions call for 1 ounce of reactivator per 2 pounds of media.

First, measure the amount of media that you want to reactivate. Next, measure the appropriate quantity of reactivator according to the recommended ratio. Then, add the liquid directly to the media and allow the tumbler to distribute it through the material.

For example, a 2 lb quantity of corncob media requires 1 oz of reactivator. Similarly, larger quantities require the same proportion. This makes it easy to adjust the amount used according to the quantity of media in the tumbler.

After adding the product, allow the media to distribute the reactivator evenly before returning to normal case-cleaning use. In addition, keep the media dry and free from unnecessary contamination between cleaning sessions.

Lyman Corncob Reactivator Application

The additive works with previously used corncob media when the media starts to lose its polishing performance. Therefore, it can help extend the useful working life of media that still has suitable cleaning material remaining.

However, reactivation does not replace heavily worn or contaminated media. If the media no longer provides suitable cleaning performance, replacing it may be more appropriate.

Lyman’s product range also includes treated corncob media for case cleaning. As a result, the reactivator can form part of a dry-media case-cleaning setup alongside a suitable tumbler and corncob media.
