Lee Deluxe Perfect Powder Measure

The Lee Deluxe Perfect Powder Measure is a bench-mounted powder measure designed for loading rifle and handgun cartridges. It uses a micrometer-adjustable metering chamber and brass rotor drum to provide controlled powder charges across a broad range of applications.

The body uses a high-pressure die-cast, diamond-machined construction. In addition, the precision-machined rotor drum uses brass, which Lee describes as naturally antistatic and spark proof.

A soft elastomer wiper strikes the metering chamber instead of cutting through the powder. Therefore, the rotor operates smoothly while helping provide consistent powder charges.

The metering chamber uses a true micrometer adjustment with a permanently laser-engraved scale. Furthermore, the brass micrometer thimble has .01cc graduations and a releasable detent lock.

With most rifle powders, Lee states that each micrometer click represents approximately one-tenth of a grain. As a result, the adjustment system allows fine changes when developing or checking a load.

The hopper holds approximately 1/2 pound of powder and includes an on/off valve. Therefore, the user can stop the powder flow when changing powder or returning unused powder to its original container.

The hopper feeds into a pre-measuring chamber. As a result, the charge remains consistent without requiring a separate powder baffle as the powder level changes.

The measure can also use Lee’s Quick Change Drum Set, product 90453. These drums can be preset and exchanged when different charge settings are required.

The Lee Deluxe Perfect Powder Measure can mount to the Lee Powder Measure Stand or to a compatible single-stage reloading press accepting 7/8″-14 threads. Therefore, the mounting arrangement can suit different bench configurations.

The micrometer adjustment controls the volume of powder delivered by the metering chamber. However, the volume setting does not guarantee a particular powder weight because different powders have different densities and characteristics.

Set the desired volume and verify the resulting charge weight with a suitable scale. In addition, check the charge whenever the powder type, loading data or operating conditions change.

The removable hopper and integrated shut-off valve simplify powder changes. Furthermore, the pre-measuring chamber allows the measure to operate without a separate powder baffle.

The Quick Change Drum Set provides another option for users who regularly change between preset charge volumes. Lee states that the drums can be preset to preferred charges and exchanged quickly.
