Lee New Auto Prime

The Lee New Auto Prime is a hand-held priming tool for seating primers into cartridge cases during reloading. Its compact design provides direct control over the primer-seating operation and keeps priming separate from the reloading press.

Furthermore, the tool uses dedicated Lee Hand Prime shell holders, so reloaders can prime cases without repeatedly changing the shell holder on their press. The tool accepts both small and large primer assemblies and includes a folding primer tray.

Lee New Auto Prime Features

The tool uses separate small and large primer assemblies for different primer sizes. In addition, the folding tray includes a built-in flipping surface that helps orient primers during tray loading.

The design provides useful seating feel as the primer enters the primer pocket. Therefore, the user can control the seating operation by feel rather than relying only on visual inspection.

Lee also supplies a molded storage box with the tool. The box keeps the priming tool and shell holders together and provides storage space for up to 18 shell holders.

Lee New Auto Prime for Reloading

The hand-held format allows reloaders to prime cases away from the press. Consequently, priming can form a separate stage of case preparation before charging and bullet seating.

The tool suits reloaders who work with several cartridge types because the dedicated shell-holder system allows the appropriate holder to remain available for each cartridge. Lee offers a range of Hand Prime shell holders separately for different cartridges.

Furthermore, the manufacturer provides replacement parts for the tool, including small and large adapter assemblies, the body, lever and primer-tool storage box. As a result, the tool can remain serviceable over time.

Important

Lee has tested the tool with different primer brands and types. The manufacturer specifically warns that Federal brand large primers can cause the entire primer tray to explode with enough force to cause serious and painful injuries. Lee recommends feeding these primers individually using the single-primer option. Always follow Lee’s current safety instructions when handling primers.
