Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure

The Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure is a case-actuated powder measure designed primarily for handgun reloading. It uses interchangeable charging disks to dispense powder as the case operates the measure through a compatible Lee powder-through die.

The measure uses an elastomer wiper and Teflon-coated metal casting to provide smooth operation. In addition, the wiper helps prevent powder from being cut during the measuring process.

The large hopper holds up to 1/2 pound of powder and includes a shut-off valve. Therefore, the user can stop powder flow when changing disks or removing the hopper.

The hopper attaches with brass thumb nuts, which makes disk changes straightforward. Furthermore, the supplied swivel adapter allows the measure to move between compatible die sets without removing the complete assembly.

The measure includes four charging disks. Disk A provides a volume range of 0.30 to 0.43cc, Disk B covers 0.46 to 0.66cc, Disk C covers 0.71 to 1.02cc, and Disk D covers 1.09 to 1.57cc. Therefore, the supplied disks cover a range of powder charge volumes.

The package includes a spring return lever for single-stage and turret press use. It also includes a return lever with bead chain for progressive presses. As a result, the measure can suit different Lee press configurations.

Lee lists the Pro Auto Disk primarily for handgun cases. In addition, users can charge small rifle cases when they add the Double Disk Kit.

The case actuates the measure through a compatible powder-through expanding die. As the case moves into the die, the mechanism operates the charging disk and dispenses the selected volume of powder.

The supplied disks set powder volume rather than an exact powder weight. Different powders can produce different weights at the same volume. Therefore, check the actual charge weight with a suitable scale when setting up the measure and whenever the powder or charge changes.

The Pro Auto Disk works with Lee reloading presses when used with the appropriate charging die or adapter. Lee also offers an Auto-Disk Riser for applications where additional clearance is required on certain turret presses.

The case-actuated design can suit users who want automatic powder charging during repeated loading operations. However, reloaders should always verify charge weights and use current published load data for the specific cartridge, bullet and powder combination.
